Westie ain't cheap!
Protecting and restoring nature is expensive and requires long term investment and commitment in order to achieve successful results.
In order to deliver the best results for nature a biodiversity credit market needs to factor in high prices for high integrity credits that deliver positive outcomes for nature with high degrees of certainty. None of this is cheap!
Payment for successful biodiversity protection and restoration includes consideration for pre-action planning, field implementation, and post-action monitoring and evaluation. In addition, when a positive biodiversity outcome is encapsulated as a credit and delivered to market there are additional expenses for the verification and governance requirements associated with this.
The good news is that labour is a large component of the required cost base so if done correctly there are opportunities for biodiversity credit markets to deliver positive outcomes for nature through meaningful pay for meaningful work undertaken by Traditional Owners and people in local communities.
Our aim is to build the world's best biodiversity credit market, one that recognises the true value of nature, results in an equitable distribution of benefits and empowers local communities along the way!
